    Care & Cleaning

    Looked after, a FIXIF crate is built for a decade of use. Five minutes of routine after each trip keeps the gasket sealing, the FIXSUN™ surface looking new, and the interior safe for food and water.

    After every trip

    • Open the drain plug and let any meltwater out before bringing the cooler indoors.
    • Rinse the interior with warm water. For food residue, add a few drops of unscented dish soap and wipe with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge.
    • Leave the lid open and let the body and gasket air-dry fully before closing. A closed wet cooler is where odours start.

    Deep clean (monthly, or after raw meat / fish)

    • Fill the cooler with warm water and add 60 ml of unscented dish soap or a cup of baking soda.
    • Let it sit for 20 minutes, scrub the corners and the lid gasket with a soft brush, then drain through the FIXIF™ drain port.
    • Rinse twice with clean water and air-dry with the lid open.

    FIXWATER™ mode — food-grade water container

    • Before using your crate as a drinking-water container, deep clean as above, then sanitise: 1 teaspoon of unscented household bleach (5%) per 4 litres of water, fill, close, and leave 30 minutes.
    • Drain fully through the FIXIF™ drain port and rinse three times with clean water until no chlorine smell remains.
    • Fill with potable water. Keep the lid sealed and the FIXLOCK™ buckles closed in transit. Empty and air-dry between uses.

    Gasket, buckles and hinges

    • Wipe the lid gasket with a damp cloth after every wash; a clean gasket is what keeps ice for days.
    • If the gasket dries out, rub a thin film of food-grade silicone grease along it once or twice a year.
    • FIXLOCK™ aluminium buckles and stainless steel hinges need no maintenance. If exposed to salt water, rinse with fresh water after use.

    Exterior and FIXSUN™ surfaces

    • Wash the outside with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid solvents, acetone, petrol or abrasive scouring pads — they can dull the FIXSUN™ UV-resistant finish.
    • Stubborn scuffs lift with a magic eraser or a paste of baking soda and water.
    • Store in shade when possible. Long-term direct sun on any plastic shortens its life.

    Storage

    • Store with the lid slightly open and the drain plug out so air can circulate.
    • Keep accessories (floor module, magnetic plates) clean and dry. Stainless steel parts are corrosion-resistant but not corrosion-proof in salt environments.

    Do not

    • Do not put the crate in a dishwasher.
    • Do not pressure-wash the gasket directly.
    • Do not use bleach above the dilution noted in FIXWATER™ mode, and never mix bleach with other cleaners.
    • Do not store food inside long-term — the crate is for transport and short-term storage, not as a substitute for a fridge.
